You could pound away at the Gym every day and still not be healthy, although likely to be quite toned!

In life we can look at connections/relationships we have with other people and often these require some degree of working at to sustain and be able to roll with the rough and the smooth times.

The greatest connection you can have is the one you have with yourself, as if you are out of balance in any of the key areas that make you YOU which includes your “Physical, Emotional, psychological and spiritual (not religion) then the other areas will seek to compensate well-being.

Along with qualifications, it should be made clear to you what you can expect from the treatment and the desired potential outcome agreed. You will then sign an agreement to confirm you are clear about the treatment.

The are should be clean and hygienic as should be the appearance of the Therapist.

Information about you should be stored safely and the Therapist should be insured and if asked, provide details of the “continuous learning & development” they undertake.

Learning as a lifelong is not a completion of a qualification in isolation.

There are set standards of practice and although all treatments should be individualised to meet your unique needs, the following should be met to ensure you are receiving an authentic standard of treatment:

Indian Head 45 mins
Reflexology Hand 35 mins
Holistic 60 mins
Sports 60 mins
Hot & cold stone Reflexology 45 mins
Reiki 60 mins

In addition, on your first visit you will complete a medical/lifestyle questionnaire with your Therapist (be assured this is not to cast judgement or nag you from drinking coffee, Alcohol having take outs!) which usually takes about 10 mins and assists the Therapist in identifying potential problematic areas and supporting systems that may also unbeknown to you be negatively impacting on your well-being.

After treatment you should be provided with “after care advice” and a treatment plan agreed with you.

If your Therapist advises that they can “cure you”, be very cautious! Definitely treatments often reduce or totally get rid of presenting difficulties/ailments, but this is usually a collaborative undertaking with you following treatment plans and making a few tweaks to some of your routines and water intake for example. Therefore, ultimately as a Therapist we have a responsibility to assist and support you and that we alone may not necessarily be capable of “curing you”.

Would you go and see a Physician if they weren’t fully qualified?

Having a National/International qualification from the countries governing body, means you can be confident that you ARE in safe hands. Training will often have been a lengthy undertaking and the therapist will have studied and passed exams including ones in Anatomy & Physiology.

Without the relevant qualifications held by the Therapist, you could be at risk of injury or may end up feeling worse or disillusioned at the experience.
